about

6. Climbing Everest.
I looked again at my ambition; it was the highest peak in the world. And truly, where else could one experience eternity but on Everest? I flew up, and the first metres were easy for me. Then I got wildly tired and heard the whisper of time following me. Trying to break away, I sprinted upwards as hard as I could. "I'm going to discover the top!" my voice rasped. "I'm going to discover the truth," my last song sang. "I'm going to become eternal," echoed the mountain echo... And up there, my voice was silenced forever. Those who took in the highest altitude that day heard only a hum that reminded them of their mother's lullaby. And then there was silence. And, as if born in it, a new, fresh wind blew over the peaks.
